Mental Health Worker: (FT & PT) Available
$12.80 to start; $13.00 after 1 Year
The Mental Health Worker (MHW) is a direct-care / counselor position to children. MHWs supervise the children in care and are responsible for their safety. Throughout the day, MHWs guide the children through their daily routines and activities while documenting events and observations specific to each child. The MHW is expected to teach and model appropriate social skills and coping skills to the children. MHWs must provide support for children who may be experiencing feelings of anxiety and depression or struggling with anger management. The MHW is responsible for communicating pertinent information to the child’s therapist so that treatment can be properly assessed. MHWs are asked to apply concepts Trauma Informed Care.
Full-time MHWs are scheduled 4 days on (40 hours total)/ 4 days off.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Education, within the mental health field and/or experience working with children, is desired but not required. Appropriate applicants must have a strong desire to help an at-risk group of children. This position requires the ability to stay active, make good decisions within a busy environment and maintain a calm demeanor while working with an emotional child. Additionally, this position requires strong ethics and accountability. Must be able to complete clear and legible documentation.
